The Internal Auditor performs individual planned audits as part of the total internal audit plan and provides independent and objective review of company locations to assess compliance with company policies and procedures and also to evaluate and access internal controls. The Internal Auditor report directly to the North American Director of Internal Audit – FGA. Additionally, the Internal Auditor will have responsibility for conducting audits that are primarily focused on operations, finance and compliance at First Student and First Transit divisions. 

  • Analyzes business risks based on available data
  • Conducts financial, operational and compliance audits of company operating locations
  • Performs individual internal audit projects
  • Responsible for developing the internal audit scope, performing internal audit procedures and preparing internal audit reports
  • Ensures audit work is of a quality standard and that audit processes are those established by the company.
  • Conducts fraud investigations, special audits and other projects
  • Assists, trains, and instructs company management and commission agents in proper company accounting, reporting, operating and internal control procedures.
  • Completes audit reports for general distribution to management at all levels.
  • Ensures audit issues identified are tracked to closure.
  • Provides input on, updates, and implements updated audit program
  • Assists with the planning process and ensure that these plans are completed on time and with the required level of quality.
  • Maintains good working relationships with appropriate management and company personnel within the company.


  • Four-year degree in Accounting, Finance, or Management
  • CIA, CFE, CPA, or CRMA certification strongly preferred
  • 2 years’ experience in an audit environment
