Provide strategic, innovative, and engaging communications for internal and external audiences. Drive high awareness and reputation with strong external communications throughout North America. Foster engagement and pride with 70,000+ employees with powerful internal communications.

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive organizational communications strategy that strengthens First Student’s and First Transit’s reputation among external audiences and enhances internal employee engagement and culture.
  • Lead all communications functions and channels; including media relations; social media and internal communications.
  • Success in collaborating within a complex organization.
  • Courage to assert and realize a vision while being inclusive and collaborative.
  • Leadership that inspires followership and enthusiasm.
  • Listens to and recognizes the challenges and perspectives of others.

  • Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, or a related field.
  • Ten plus years of high-level strategic communications.
  • Three to five years in a management or leadership role within communications.
  • Experience with crisis management is preferred.
  • Content Management System (CMS) publishing experience desirable.
  • Experience evaluating and implementing internal and multi-directional communications tools and channels.
  • Excellent writing, editing and verbal communication skills and presentation abilities.
  • Ability to travel up to 20% of time.
